Things to do on a Sunday

BLUNCH (New Vermont Cooking Dictionary) [bluhhnch]: 1. n. a meal taken late in the morning and into the early afternoon that, like Brunch, combines elements of breakfast and lunch, but served later and with a more lunchy flavor. 2. v. to enjoy conviviality and friendship in the afternoon, as in "Let's blunch!"

Blunch is characterized by a friendly atmosphere, casual conversation, attentive service, and comforting foods. Typical elements of a modern blunch might be: an egg frittata with cheese and a sprout salad; an open-faced ham and cheese sandwich with fried egg; a hearty salad of beets, celery root, potato, and apples with a maple Balsamic vinaigrette; Maine crab cake with a poached egg and lemon caper sause; steak and eggs; cinnamon raisin French toast; baked fusilli and cheese; and of course, a classic cheeseburger.

Claire's serves Blunch every Sunday from 11-3, with full bar available.

Happening at Claire's and in Hardwick

Hi Everyone,

We're back! Vacation is a lovely thing. I spent mine in one of my favorite places on the planet - Vermont's Northeast Kingdom! Lots of cross-country skiing in our beautiful northern woods, a day of downhill skiing, some yoga, some massage, some movie viewing and some resting! All in all, just what the doctor ordered. We are rested and ready to serve you up more great food and great company at Claire's.

Steven has informed me that his delicious wheatberry balls that I mentioned a while back will now be on the menu. They were a huge hit when we served them at one of our holiday parties, so come on down and taste them for yourself.

Music this Thursday (tomorrow) night will be Chris Lyons, guitar player and front man for the Mud City Ramblers. He will be joined by fellow Rambler Fran Forum on stand-up bass. Their show starts at 7:30 PM.

As I mentioned in my last post, we will begin serving "Blunch" this coming Sunday from 11 AM until 3 PM. We'll be serving dinner from 5 PM to 9 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays. For the winter, we will be closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Stay warm! We look forward to seeing you soon.

peace.
